Shelia Vitruk : Visual Mixed Media Artist, Creator, Photographer & Trauma Survivor
Shelia, born and raised in the Philadelphia area and has dedicated herself to addressing her passion for the arts through her trauma journey. After graduating high school, Shelia attended 2 years of college where something continued to not feel right emotionally and mentally, she sat through mental health seminars, personal trauma presentations, and development workshops to still not understand this feeling. So she took time away from school. Having experienced trauma at a young age and keeping it to herself, she couldn't understand why things like relationships and self-worth weren't important to her as much as they should be. She couldn't open up to many people and later discovered that the untouched trauma was the cause. Instead of further keeping it to herself, she finally took the time to tell family and friends not realizing the impact she had on others and how easily it allowed her to feel vulnerable to change and growth. This showed Shelia the ability she had on helping others simply by embracing her trauma and her outlet was her known creativity. She discovered through her art, she can release the overthinking stemmed from the trauma.
The goal for Shelia moving forward is to show, inform, and help others face their trauma and see how embracing your mental can aid in a successful future. She is looking forward to growth in her artistry, partnering with different urban streetwear brands and influencers in relation to her style, and influencing with her signature designs and styles.
